Much of the freight that leaves Houston is headed to Mexico: containers landing at the port, oilfield equipment, steel, resins and machinery. Eilan Trade Solutions is the customs broker for that freight. We clear at the Port of Houston and in the Laredo and Nuevo Laredo corridor, so one file follows the shipment from Houston to its destination in Mexico. More than 30 years of experience.

What we do for a Houston shipper

Two ways to move your freight

If the goods, or part of them, stay in the United States, they are cleared at Houston. If everything is going to Mexico, the container travels in-bond to Laredo without paying U.S. duty, and the in-bond is closed there on export. It is decided before the vessel arrives.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a customs broker in Houston and another at the border?

No. Eilan clears at Houston and at Laredo and Nuevo Laredo with one team, and prepares the Mexican pedimento as well.

Does my container pay U.S. duty if it is going to Mexico?

If it travels in-bond and is exported to Mexico, it does not pay U.S. duty. Import taxes are paid in Mexico with the pedimento.

Which bridge does Houston freight cross?

General freight crosses at World Trade Bridge. Hazardous materials and oversize freight cross at the Colombia bridge.
